Our Story
The Office of Graduate Studies is an arm of the wider Excelsior Education Center (EXED) that offers the highest level of certification, professional training, and development of the Education Center. The Office of Graduate Studies shares the same Mission and Vision as the Excelsior Community College.
The Excelsior School brand came into existence on January 19, 1931. The Community College brand has been in the market since 1974, building on the legacy of our founder of the Excelsior Education Center, the Hon. Dr. A. Wesley Powell, and Thomas Edward Dwyer, the founding principal of the Excelsior Community College.
Our Purpose
The Office of Graduate Studies programme focuses on Professional Masters degrees in keeping with the growing market trend for professional masters. The programmes are focused on developing, for our learners, specific job skills that may help them secure a new job or advance in an existing position.
Hence, there is a high level of specialization. The programmes in our Professional Masters targets learners who want to start a career, advance their career, or want a change of career.

Excelsior Community College is a registered institution with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI) in Jamaica, and the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ), the local accreditation body.
Excelsior Community College obtained Candidacy for Institutional Accreditation in March 2019 from the UCJ. As such, our Masters’ Degree programmes curricula are developed in alignment with the UCJ’s and recognized industries occupational standards. Additionally, our programmes are aligned to the Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission (J-TEC), the National Qualifications Framework of Jamaica (NQF-J) and certifications are to be offered by the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ).
